What I enjoyed embarrassingly much was candidate Romney's performance on the international stage. If you follow American politics a bit, you know that it was President Obama's opponent who made those gigantic "gaffs" during his visit to England. Those images, especially the reaction of Prime Minister David Cameron, keep making me laugh.
Of course I also enjoy the performances of the athletes immensely. From volleyball to table tennis. I used to be a real volleyball fanatic and I was even semi-champion table tennis of Suriname. You wouldn't have thought that, would you? And I did all that with straightened hair. I don't have to tell you that my hair always stuck out in all directions.
Which brings me to people's reactions to Gabby Douglas' hair. For those who don't know, Gabby won gold for the USA in gymnastics with her team. A truly amazing achievement. Despite this, the twitter sphere was full of comments that Gabby should have gotten a haircut before her performance. Comments that unfortunately can only come from people who are deeply ashamed of having frizzy hair. I wonder what they would have said if she had an afro.
Anyway, I have another fun update for you. An interview with an example Surinamese woman who makes a career while she has never relaxed: Joyce Rozenhout. I think you will find it a nice story.
