My Pangi Wrap

Hello People,

After such a busy period it is time for a time out. I am enjoying the New York summer to the fullest. It is hot, the sun is shining and there is more than enough to do. Too much actually.

After finally having time for a “Play” on Broadway again, this weekend there was the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival as well as an outdoor party with the cast of the Fela Kuti Musical.

The Broadway play “A Streetcar Named Desire” was a must. Jacinto Taras Riddick, who has a supporting role, lives in the neighborhood. We have spoken to each other before and oh how glad I am that he invited me. The famous Blair Underwood is the main attraction for this play. He is certainly good and I cannot deny that his beautiful chest also impressed me, but honestly I think Nicole Ari Parker is not inferior to her. She is probably less known to you, but keep an eye on her name because she is not just a beautiful woman, she is a super actress.

Also this week I have a video for you of one of the events I was able to experience at the Weeksville Heritage Center. Almost every summer I visit this multi-dimensional museum to preserve the heritage of Black Americans. The houses are in original condition, there is a garden and every summer they have a garden party with concerts.

Run Mary Run and the Dance Daspora Collective didn't ring a bell at first, but their performance touched me so deeply that I will never forget the name. The "Spirituals" they perform you can really feel down to your toes. I hope the iPad recording can convey that a little. Here is the link: Weeksville Heritage Center .

In addition, I finally have a video of one of my headwraps. I am often asked how I tie my headscarves, but I never really find it special. However, now that I received compliments about this headscarf, I found it special because it gave me another opportunity to show the beautiful Surinamese culture.

The headscarf I am wearing is one of the pangis I ordered from Johanna Huur. As an entrepreneur who designs her own pangis, Johanna is a member of the Mafondo organization that strives to promote the interests of disadvantaged Maroon women. The colorful pangis are not only unique, I think they can also add something extra to any outfit. If you want to know how to do a wrap like this, watch the video.

Of course I also answered a question. This week about Dull, dry curls. If you also have to deal with this, try the proposed solution. Don't forget to take a look at the Going Natural Hair Care Webshop. It would be a shame to miss a surprising offer.

Odi and have a wonderful week!
