2016, almost over, was a very eventful year. From Black Pete and the Sylvanna Simmons incident to Brexit and Trump, all events have made history, unfortunately not in a positive way.
I still can't believe that a "pussy grabbing" literal screaming con artist was supposedly chosen over a woman who has dedicated her entire life, literally her entire life, to serving the public. Whether you agree with Hillary Rodham Clinton or not, whether you like her or not, her record is indisputable.
It has become clear to me once again how you are judged as a woman. “Pantsuit” is called when you do not appear in “neat” a medieval suit, which is super uncomfortable, but appeals more to men. The plans and what you intend to do with the country do not seem to matter at all.

A hard working woman who sacrificed her life and made huge sacrifices for public life is given zero respect. The double standard is super painful. Trump has been married 3 times, has 5 children, with 3 different women. That alone would be enough to make a woman not be taken seriously, to say the least. And I haven't even mentioned the fact that he has gone bankrupt 4 times, scammed half the people he worked with, and assaulted women.
These are not exaggerated stories or fabrications like Hillary's emails, no, these are facts. From the New York Times to CNN, small business owners who were scammed have their say, as well as women who say Trump unexpectedly grabbed them by the breasts, kissed them or worse. In fact, you can hear him say it on tape: You can grab them by the pussy. Zero respect for women and yet, still chosen over Hillary Rodham Clinton. I've really wondered a million times where this is going.
I can go on about it for hours, but oh well. I don't know if I should also talk about Sylvanna Simmons where the true nature of racist Netherlands has shown itself in a horrible way: images of lynched black people hanging from a tree! If this is not a sign to take the Black Pete discussion and everything that goes with it seriously, I don't know what is.
Also on a personal level, things have not been all roses (See Tineke Liong, my sister, is no longer there ), but after rain comes sunshine and that seems to me to give us a nice prospect. Call it a cliché, that does not make it less true. Life has ups and downs, sine/cosine, is a basic rule of this earth. That is why I am looking forward to 2017 with optimism.
Next year kroeshaar.com will be 15 years old! That must and will be celebrated in style. There will be a new exhibition for Black History Month 2017, a Going Natural Hair Show on the big stage of the International African Arts Festival during the 4th of July weekend, an exhibition and Going Natural Hair Show on a super fun island. So you too have a lot to look forward to.
