As a ritual before I start curling, which means I won't be able to wear my hair in an afro for the next few years, I decided to wear an afro for the last time. Since I've had quite a few questions about how to make an afro over the years, I also made a video to explain how to make the biggest afro possible.
As a ritual before I start curling, which means I won't be able to wear my hair in an afro for the next few years, I decided to wear an afro for the last time. Since I've had quite a few questions about how to make an afro over the years, I also made a video to explain how to make the biggest afro possible.
An afro is really very simple and through experience I can now make one in no time.
If you really want the biggest afro possible, you should braid your hair, preferably in cornrows but I can't do that. That's why I just made braids. Making twelve braids in my hair takes me less than half an hour. Yes, I'm an old hand at it but here's a tip to get it done really fast: Do it when you're in the shower. Actually, I always do it that way. To make the video I did it in front of the mirror. Of course you can also do it nice and relaxed in front of the TV, because the partings are not important, but the fastest is really when you're in the shower.
Comb out in the shower
Once your hair is completely wet, squeeze out as much water as possible and add a generous amount of Silky Shea Hair Butter . You will notice how nicely the butter is absorbed by the wet hair because it immediately feels wonderfully soft. Then take a section of your hair, comb it out and make a braid. Repeat until your entire hair is done and you will see how quickly it is done. It goes even faster if you twist the hair, but then your hair will not stand up as high and you will therefore have a less extended afro.
Since I wasn't in the shower and already had Silky Shea in my hair, I used the Scalp Conditioning Spray this time to moisten my hair and for a change I used the Curly Twistout Hair Cream to create a nice curl at the end of the braids.
Now I hope that not only will you learn something from the video, but that you will also wear an afro and of course upload or send pictures. For now I look forward to your comments.
ps. sorry for my just-woke-up look. I don't always feel like dressing up and we all know what we look like when we just woke up, right?
