Besides hairdressers and stylists, there is another special category: hair artists. Tameeka is one of them. She comes, sees and conquers. Whatever your hair type, thick, thin, long or short, with her endless creativity she will create a hairstyle for you that you could never have imagined yourself. And she enjoys it too.

Tanya is a very famous announcer. Among others at Kiss FM, one of the most popular radio stations in America. On a lonely Saturday I heard her complaining about her frizzy hair. That she had trouble getting rid of it and that she didn't know what to do with it. She had sworn off relaxing for good after a large part of the back of her head was almost completely bald. That was about 3 years ago. Now she has a full head of nice thick frizzy hair, but she has trouble coming up with hairstyles.

When I heard her story I sent her an email asking if she was up for a party hairdo. Luckily she was. Here is the result.

Before

I saw this Nigerian beauty in the photo album of an acquaintance. I approached her via Nappturality. She was also up for a festive hairstyle. With her 3-day-old full and colorful twistout she combed on. She really didn't feel like combing out her hair because it all took way too long. For those who recognize this problem: in no time I combed out her hair. Sprayed a little water with Kemi kurl spray and the comb glided through. Because she had a sensitive scalp I asked her repeatedly if I was hurting her. She said, child I don't feel anything at all. Believe me, once you master the art, combing frizzy hair is even fun.

Once again the wonders of Tameeka. Cornrows from the back, as if the hair is shaved, flattwists and twist from the front. With a color in the hair a beautiful effect.

Mamadu Ba, my favorite bass player. I know this handsome Senegalese with a sense of humor from the music world. He always asks me for hair tips. For example, I recommended the natural soaps that he still uses. Spontaneous as he is, he was immediately up for a new haircut, even though he didn't really know what he wanted.

He could finally just leave that to Tameeka. She beautifully twisted his hair into a hairstyle of small ringlets. To keep it in shape he had to put it under the dryer for 5 minutes and voila!

In all the commotion of organizing and taking pictures I forgot to have “before” pictures taken of me. By now you know my hair all too well so that doesn’t seem to be a problem. My hair really needed to be worked on again and without thinking about it I let Tameeka do her thing. With this hairstyle I am ready for the holidays!

For those who want to wear their hair loose, there is of course always the twistout: The long-awaited twistout explained in detail. and the afro: How do you make an afro?

Both are also on the 2006 calendar, with text and explanation. Happy holidays!
