Kinky Twists
Often, very often I have had the request to offer extensions in the Webshop. I have always held this back because I hardly wear extensions myself and actually also because as a miss convenience I always wore almost always the same type of extensions. However, in the two years that I went from relaxed to frizzy hair, I have learned a lot about extensions and even weaves.

Keep your goal in mind
Extensions have always been a temporary solution for me. After the last relaxer my hair was in a truly deplorable state. There was a “hole” in the middle of my head and the rest of my straightened hair strands were just sad strands. Even now I feel sad when I think back, but luckily it did inspire me. My goal was clear: I wanted my hair back, no matter what. It was really the only thing I wanted: My own healthy hair. After everything I had done to my hair I am truly grateful that my own wonderfully familiar frizzy head was back after a few months of braiding. In my opinion braids are therefore an ideal way to let frizzy hair come to rest and grow.

Extensions; real fake or fake fake
With the aim of wearing the extensions as a temporary solution, I usually did not buy real fake hair or “Human Hair”, but reasonably affordable fake fake hair or synthetic extensions. This choice has several advantages. The main ones are that synthetic hair stays in place better and can simply be wetted. There are very expensive “Human Hair” extensions available that not only easily slip out of your own hair, but also tangle when the hair gets wet. Ouch, that is really not for me. I worked out about three times a week. Not washing my hair or not getting it wet was not an option at all.

Another advantage of synthetic extensions is that you don’t have to comb your hair. I don’t have to tell you that this alone made them the perfect match for me. Some people love to comb their hair and even comb their faux braids. Not me. The less you touch synthetic hair, the longer it will last. What’s more ideal than hair that stays beautifully styled without having to comb or brush it? Now that I’m writing this, I almost want to get extensions again.

Kinky Twists
Since Kinky Twists are really in I think it is a good idea to start offering this type of extensions. Whether you just need a break or are transforming to frizzy hair, kinky twists are a solution. For now there are 2 colors: T1B/30 dark brown with some red and just 1B/33.

They are very large bunches. For an average head you need two pieces. If you want to be very sure you can order three, but then you will definitely have left over.

Tips for braiding

  • Soak the extensions in a solution of apple cider vinegar and water for about 10 minutes to rid the hair of excess chemical residue. Rinse the extensions thoroughly afterwards.

  • Wash and condition your own hair before braiding.

  • Only put extensions in your hair when it is completely dry. Extensions in wet hair always give the feeling that your hair is braided too tightly. It can feel very painful.

  • Never put extensions in hair that has just been relaxed. This will definitely cause your own hair to break. Relaxed hair is too fragile to wear extensions.

  • Don't make the twists too small. If you divide the hair too small, the hair can break.

  • Don't leave the extensions in for more than 3 months. The longer you leave them in, the harder they are to remove.

Care

  • Use the Silky Shea Hair Butter before braiding each twist. This natural butter prevents the hair from drying out. After 2 months my hair still felt soft when I took the Trini Braids out of my hair.

  • Wash hair once a week with Going Natural Herbal Shampoo or another natural shampoo that does not dry out the scalp.

  • After washing, use the Scalp Conditioning Spray to prevent a dry scalp.
