Meisje met Kroeshaar

Mother of Mixed Kid

M. Liong

Hello, My daughter (11 years old) is mixed, Dominican and Dutch. Like many mothers of 'mixed kids' I also have problems with how to treat the hair. I often read on the site that you can do all sorts of things with the hair but every time it is assumed that your hair is washed, then the product in etc.

Meisje met kroeshaar Practical question: washing her hair every day is not good, we don't have time for that. We wash her hair once a week (organics shampoo and conditioner). The rest of the week I have to do her hair in the morning I wet her hair with a leave-in conditioner in spray form (hair in 4 sections) so I can comb it. Then each section with organics olive oil leave in conditioner to make the hair greasy. Every morning it is as dry as rope.

HELP how can we tackle this so that she is proud of her hair again because she is not happy with her hair at all. We would prefer it to look like it is 'wet' all day long. I hope you can explain the daily ritual to me and not just the ritual after washing her hair. Thanks in advance!

Dear Marleen,

Thank you for visiting kroeshaar.com.

Washing your hair every day is indeed not healthy. The fact that your hair is as dry as a rope indicates that your hair is probably full of accumulated product residues that prevent the strands from absorbing other products. This happens very often when products are used with ingredients such as mineral oil. In the long run, they dry out your hair.

The best solution is to start with a deep cleanse. The Clean Start is ideal for this. Not only does the Detox Conditioner extract all the substances that do not belong in the hair and on the scalp, it adds nutritious minerals. The hair will feel soft and like new after this treatment.

In addition, I think a good comb or brush will be a good investment. In combination with the No More Knots leave in conditioner you are armed against the most impossible knots.

going natural hair gel When it comes to products that can keep the curl in, you have 3 options: the Silky Shea Hair Butter , Curly Twistout Hair Cream and the Herbal Styling Gel . It depends on what the hair prefers. With some hair types, oil sticks to the hair, others drink oil and still others benefit more from water.

The Gel is very light, stimulates a tight curl without weighing down the strands. The hair butter is a bit full for very dry hair and the hair milk is in between. It is up to you to decide which is best suited for your daughter's hair.

For daily care you can do two things. Every morning in the shower wet the hair and as you already do in four parts to comb out with a large comb with the No more knots leave in conditioner. So you don't have to wash the hair.

You can also do the same thing in the evening before going to bed. Then make a big twist of each untangled section. In the morning when the hair is dry it is then just a matter of undoing the twists and viola. You do not need a comb or brush. The curls should just fall in their natural shape. For inspiration for you and your daughter look in the Kroeshaar Gallery.

I hope the advice helps. Good luck!
