Kroeshaar dat krimpt met klitten

My hair is shrinking and difficult to comb

M. Liong

Hello, After a few years of having straightened, braided and wavy hair, I am now wondering…what is my natural hair? I also read about different hair types like 4a 4b and 4c. What does it all mean?

I am Surinamese by origin and just have tight curly hair, I think. When it gets wet, it shrinks and it is really not easy to comb. I just want to let it grow naturally but my question is which products are the best to use now? I now have a weave and the length of my own hair is about 7 cm. Just started so... I want my hair to be nice and soft and stay when it is dry and not greasy. I also want to use a good shampoo, and my hair really needs to grow faster. Can you give me some good advice about this?

Greetings,
Ebony

kroeshaar typen Hi Ebony,

Thank you for visiting kroeshaar.com and for your questions. I am so glad you asked them. Very often we hardly know our own hair type because we have relaxed for years. In my book Natuurlijk Kroes, I explain the different hair types. Admittedly different from the 4a, b, c system, but it amounts to the same thing. This system was criticized by the natural community in America because they believed that frizzy hair was the lowest on that ladder and they did not accept that. Hence my own system to characterize frizzy hair with respect.

If you look closely at kinky hair you will see that it has either an O-shape, a zigzag Z-shape or an S-shape. Each of these shapes can be tighter or looser and in this way 4a, 4b and 4c are also typified. 4C is the kinkiest hair and therefore has the tightest O-shape, but no one with kinky hair has only one type of curl on their head. On a kinky hair head there are at least 3 different types. My hair is a mix of O's and S's.

going natural silky shea hair butter When you talk about shrinkage I always think I am the queen. My hair not only shrinks when wet but even when dry sometimes 40% of its length, but it is not difficult to comb at all. It took me a while to get there, but now that I know what products to use, combing my hair is never a problem.

You can take it from me that it starts with a good shampoo that does not dry out the hair. With 9 out of 10 shampoos, the frizzy hair does not just shrink into one but clumps together, making it almost impossible to comb after washing. Ouch, the idea alone gives me a headache. As for shampoo, I can highly recommend the Olive shampoo. You will notice that your curls will separate when you wash your hair. You can easily reach your scalp with your fingers and after rinsing your hair will feel like new.

To keep your hair soft and supple I would choose the hair butter and or curling cream, actually it is better to take both so you can find out what your hair benefits from the most. If you still need a deep conditioner I recommend the Detox Deep Conditioner. Really wonderful stuff, that not only makes the hair soft and supple, but also gives it shine.

If you want your hair to grow, you need to stop the breakage of your hair strands. You can do this by using the right combs and brushes. Invest in a large anti-static comb with rounded teeth and a tangle teezer. Never comb your hair dry, make sure it is always at least slightly damp.

If you wash your hair weekly with the Going Natural Herbal Shampoo , condition it with the Deep Conditioner or Detox Conditioner and keep your hair supple with the Silky Shea Hair Butter or Curly Twistout Hair Cream , I promise you that you will see clear results after 4 weeks. Of course, I assume that you are otherwise healthy and that you do not go through your hair with a fine comb.

Good luck and keep us posted if you like.
