Hello! My name is Cherelle and I have very frizzy hair. I have relaxed my hair several times and have just taken out my extensions (attached with metal rings), before I always had my neck hair sewn into braids. It is now super thin, I could cry. It is short and thin and to prevent it from breaking further it needs to be cut shorter.

What can I use to make it grow back healthy and longer as quickly as possible and is there a method of extensions or something I can use in the meantime that is not harmful to my own hair?
I hope for a quick answer!
greetings,
Cherelle

Hi Cherelle,
Thanks for visiting kroeshaar.com and your question. I am curious how old you are, how often you have relaxed and how often you have weaved.
The problem you describe is very relatable. You have come to the right place. Your problem is one that plagues our community quite a bit. One of the biggest mistakes women make is attaching a weave to hair that has just been relaxed. I have written about it in my book and have mentioned it so many times on the site:
A weave on freshly defrizzed hair is asking for trouble. Your own hair will almost certainly break off.
This is because hair strands that have just undergone chemical treatments are weakened. It is like having surgery and then immediately lifting heavy weights. Your hair cannot handle it.
Of course the hair is relaxed first because otherwise it does not match the hair type. Especially if you use rings, but it is really not good for the health of your own hair.
Unfortunately, there are few good hairdressers who will tell you this. I have been walking around with bald spots for years and the only advice I got was to relax more often with a milder relaxer. It is really sad. It is a hard lesson but ultimately you are responsible for the health of your own hair. I am glad you ended up here. You sound young enough to fix the problem. It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you too.
What you have to realize is that it doesn't happen overnight. An advantage you have is that your hair is short and that you realize that you have to cut it shorter. You may not see it, but once the unhealthy part of your hair is gone, your own hair can recover the fastest and start growing nicely. The fact is that if you have abused your hair for years, you ca n't expect your hair to be super healthy again with a treatment.
For now I would advise against extensions. You may be ashamed of your hair now because it is frizzy and the length of it but it is really nothing to be ashamed of. From a young age we have been taught that frizzy hair is not beautiful, that men do not find it attractive and that it is unacceptable. All nonsense.
The true beginning of your transformation to your natural hair is realizing that you have been destroying your own hair for years because you thought it wasn’t good enough. So maybe this is a good time to start realizing that there is no shame in having afro hair. The only reason we as a people are so obsessively compulsive about so-called “good” hair is because deep down we believe that afro hair is ugly. Like any compulsive obsession, it is detrimental to our health. It is up to you to decide whether you really want to deal with it or to continue to believe that you are ugly with afro hair and not good enough for the world to look at you with short afro hair. Like me, you know that is nonsense and hopefully it makes the process a little easier.
Now about the health of your hair. Good hair starts with good care. If you follow the following instructions you will have healthy and thriving hair again sooner than you think. It has not only worked perfectly for me but also for everyone else I have recommended it to.
1) Wash your hair once a week with the Going Natural Herbal Shampoo and then condition with the Detox Conditioner .
2) I don't know your hair type exactly but the Silky Shea Hair Butter is one of the most favorite products from the webshop that is used by people with different hair types. Based on that I would recommend it for daily use to keep the hair soft and supple.
For a cute hairstyle so you don't have to feel uncomfortable with your short frizzy hair, I refer to this beautiful hairstyle for short frizzy hair. I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
