Two years ago I got really fed up with my hair one day. Every 6-8 weeks I went to the hairdresser to relax it, every time my hair broke off and every time I experienced a moment during the relaxing my hair became lifeless.

Two years ago I got really fed up with my hair one day. Every 6-8 weeks I went to the hairdresser to relax it, every time my hair broke off and every time I experienced a moment during the relaxing my hair became lifeless.

That has to change, I thought to myself and bought fake hair at Suhail at the Albert Cuijp to braid my hair. I saw nice hair types and chose the water wave. Everyone I spoke to thought it looked great on me and so I walked around with those braids for a good 1.5 years.

Before I braided my hair I was at the hairdresser in Amsterdam and heard a few girls talking about the movie Good Hair by Chris Rock. Out of curiosity I downloaded and watched the movie. I laughed heartily and couldn't help but admit that it is oh so true. The stuff I have been putting in my hair for years is chemical and very bad for your (my) hair. After seeing the movie I decided not to relax my hair for a while. I would just keep my hair braided for a long time. But, that would get boring after a while I thought.

A few months ago I came across a website about frizzy hair and Going Natural. Curious as I am I visited most of the site and was intrigued by the diversity of hairstyles with frizzy hair. The stories of women who go through life natural also inspired me and since then I came up with the idea to do that too. Nothing is as bad as relaxing and keeping your hair natural is much better and besides I love my hair.

Going Natural requires some preparation and I also notice that I have indeed entered a phase in which I am not only looking for myself but also want to experiment with my hair. Can I make nice twists? Can I braid or...what can I do with it. Fortunately, there have been ladies who have released useful tips and tricks on both YouTube and DVD to help the other sisters with creative ideas. I have already decided to start making twists, nice and easy.

Maintaining my frizzy hair also means getting the right stuff. Which hair oil, milk product, shampoo and conditioner can I use for my frizzy hair? I have already found a product that I am completely fascinated by, namely the Natural Laxer Mix. I did not know this product and contacted the lady who sells this product. Her explanation made me even more curious and I bought the product from her.

Since I have the products, I am constantly drawn to the closet where I have stored them. Every evening I take a quick look, every time I Google more information about the treatment of frizzy hair and then I almost become obsessed with it. Last weekend I was tossing and turning and irritated by my braids. As soon as I have something in mind to do, I want to be able to do it immediately. No sooner said than done…

Now, February 16th I have decided to take out all my braids this coming Friday and go Natural. At least, if I don't like it, I still have alternatives. I still have a mountain of bep hair that I can use.

Conclusion: I really need it now! 🙂
