Curly Hair Story by Veneranda

Mireille Liong

Veneranda Turkenson, Hotel Manager by profession, is going for the second time in a row. We were curious about why and whether it is easy after the first time. Here she shares her experience.

Frizzy Hair Hairstyles

When and why did you go curly?
This is my second time going natural. This time last year I had curls too, I transitioned both times, ie I didn't cut my hair short.

What was the hardest part?
Sometimes you have bad hair days and your hair doesn't want to listen, not all products suit your hair or give the effect described on the packaging.

And the best part about going curly?
Getting to know your nature given to you by Almighty God!

What has going curly taught you?
Black is beautiful, there is more to frizz than style 🙂

What was your worst/best haircut?
My worst haircut was at the beginning of 2013. My hair was so dry and didn't sit. Only had a few small short curls.

My best was in the summer holidays of 2013, my hair grew and I could put it in nice puffs and stretch it.

Looking back now, has your perception of frizzy hair changed?
Yes, I really do. I used to think I had dry, frizzy hair like my mother used to describe. Since last year I know better, it really takes effort and deep respect for yourself and God to accept yourself as you are.
In this white society you are really an exception and you even have dark girls who talk even worse about frizzy hair than certain white people.

Most girls found the first time relaxing wonderful. Was this the case for you and how old were you?
Hmm.. I was 5 or 6 years old, my mother had done it for me.

I have no idea what I thought about that, but I have to say I was nine years old and saw a white blonde lady moving her hair. How I wished I could do that at that time, I tried and didn't understand why I couldn't.
until my stepsister told me you don't have their hair, I was totally new to that world.

What's your favorite hairstyle?
I think updo's, buns and puffs are the most fun

How long have you been a member of kroeshaar.com and how did you find the site?
I was looking for hair products and have been a member since today (22-01-2014).

Looking for hair products I advised Veneranda to use the Scalp Conditiong Spray for cornrows like her hairstyle in the picture and to take out the braids the No More Knots Detangler. Both available in the Kroeshaar Webshop .
