Raúl Neijhorst (29) is a student of technical physics, but also a photographer in Delft. Raúl was born in Suriname and lived there until he was 18. In January 2000 he came to Delft to study. At the end of 2003 he became infected with his new hobby, photography. This new hobby became a passion and since the end of 2004 he has been actively working on it. A true autodidact, who started without photography training or photo courses. His specialty lies in portrait, model, glamour and wedding photography.
Now, in 2010, Raúl is a photographer who has left his mark in the Netherlands and Suriname. For example, since 2007 he has been the official photographer of the Miss Suriname election in Suriname, the Miss Putri election in the Netherlands and he regularly gives model training to beginning models at a model agency. Photos taken by him can be seen regularly on profile sites, in magazines and at various exhibitions and competitions. For example, in 2007 Raúl won a first prize and honorable mention in the Netherlands, in 2008 he won the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th prize in Suriname at the national photo competition Any Body, Any Image, in 2010 he scored a silver medal in Hong Kong and in the Netherlands at a regional competition the 1st, 4th and 6th prize.
That Raúl, who still has a Surinamese passport, has a warm heart for his native country is evident from the activities he sets up for his country. For example, he organized a photography workshop in Suriname on a non-profit basis in 2009 and held a large-scale book collection campaign in 2010. And there is more in store!
