Model Marley

1st photo: Try different lighting for the photo from behind. Now the back of your head (where you will definitely find a nice twist or other hairstyle) disappears into a dark hole. That part is therefore underexposed. The pin therefore disappears a little. It can help to turn your head.

2nd photo: nice calm background, no distracting colours. A slightly higher angle would allow us to see even more of your hair. Your hair looks dark, so we can't see the twists well. Your gaze is well 'through' the camera, you're capturing us!

3rd photo: nice nonchalant look, natural look. The text with the photo shows what your passion is, playing guitar. Nice to link that to who you are!

4th photo: a clear example of not always having to look into the camera, dreamy and sultry, exactly how you might feel after using the care products J.

5th photo: nice to see you completely. Your short hair makes your neck look nice and long, which it is of course. In a photo that always comes across as feminine. Your posture is not forced. Maybe nice to turn one leg inwards, that makes the photo a bit more playful.

General: good attention to the assignment, the content of the photo and the presentation of yourself as a person. Various looks of the face (a smile for example) would complete it even more.

Model Consuela
1st photo: Clearly thought about what you want to radiate with the photo! Location, color and looks have been considered. Funny that it seems a bit like we are behind the scenes; just feel if the curl is still good. That can also be seen, it shows spontaneity. In connection with the background you have chosen a horizontal background, but if you had taken a portrait position, you would have been even more the center of attention.

2nd photo: Here too a nice example of that contact with the camera is not always necessary. Now the attention really goes to your beautiful hair, soft and lush. And that is how you pose, rustic. Exactly what you wanted to radiate.

3rd photo: Because your background is now nicely out of focus (in photography that is called Depth of Field, DOF) you are now really the center of attention. Your bouncing, flowing curls stand out nicely with the light background, it stands out well. Nicely done!

4th photo: It's gotten a little darker. Try sitting a little more forward, then the couch will press less into your skin. Don't forget that you can also do something with your hands. Now your right hand is behind you by the couch. You could also have grabbed a curl and looked diagonally into the camera, a little girlishly naughty, so to speak. The blurred background in the 4th photo would have been nice here too! Your straight back is beautiful, makes for a feminine posture!

5th photo: Nice accent with the ribbon. The photo really needed that because otherwise it could have been a bit 'boring'. Well seen like that!

You describe the photoshoot very aptly. The first few minutes are always scary. It's new to pose for the camera, to think of your own poses and then also to make sure your hair is right.

General: nice interesting texts with the photo. Try some different facial expressions for multiple looks. Well thought about the natural environment.

Model Melanta

1st photo: Nice look in your eyes, a bit naughty sweet girlish. Also nice not to press your lips together but to let them lie loosely.

2nd photo: You have searched for a link with the product. Nature! And that is a success. You are in the somewhat 'wilder' nature and that is beautiful. The herbals seem to radiate it J. Try to make that one shade of yellow disappear a bit more next time, now it demands quite a bit of attention in the foreground because the color is not found anywhere else (the flower in the front of the photo).

You can clearly see the braid to the slanted afro, so good lighting because it's all about the hairstyle you want to show.

3rd photo: Pfieuwww… this is a beautiful photo. Spontaneous, beautiful with the hand like that. The viewer is introduced into the photo, to the center.

4th photo: the white flowers give the photo a summery touch. It also contrasts your hair well. Make sure the strap of your dress is level with your bra strap. Unless of course it has to be that way J.

5th photo: Sweet and spontaneous. The white flowers are a bit overexposed but since it's all about you that's not a problem. The light shines through your hair. That can make it soft, but maybe also a bit thinner than it is?

General: nice smiling photos that show what the product does to your hair. The photo where the grass is pushed away really stands out!

Model Aggie

1st photo: You are the only one who actually shows the products. That is original and well done! Your photos look a bit yellow but because they all are, it is like a series. And you had to hand that in. If 1 photo was yellowish and the rest were not, then it would be a different story ;). The enjoying pose is nicely done, your curls look good in this light. Nice accent with the leaf in your hair. That makes you one with the background.

2nd photo: Your smile shows that you are happy with the product. And that is often what advertising photos want to radiate. A good advertising photo. The top is very overexposed. Not really disturbing, but technically distracting. And it is true that we still see some water droplets splashing, right? Nicely within the theme!

3rd photo: Pleasant, quiet look. Very nice. The part of your hand seems a bit big in the corner. But your eyes make up for it, that's where the attention goes. The light falls nicely on your twists. Well done.

4th photo: Since it's about the hairdo, it would have been even better if the top was also in the photo. Then it would have been complete. The slanted position is original, nice and different. Next time, put the grid above your head 'behind' your head. Small thing, but important in photography.

5th photo: good closing photo! A blissful smile, a look at what made you happy then. You really radiate. Here too, make sure your entire hairdo is on it, that's what it's all about. Small detail: not too messy background. But you make it all right!

General: Photo-technically a bit yellow, but in a series that is allowed. Then not 1 photo stands out because of the yellow color. Good to show the products as well, you were the only one who did that. Various poses and facial expressions.

Model Carol

1st photo: your description matches your look in the photo! You grab your chest like 'is it really true that it feels so good?'. Your smile is also real, nice and spontaneous. Maybe the photo is a little too dark. The light spot on the right is a bit overexposed but is still okay.

2nd photo; the overexposed part fits this photo because it is more complete. It gives a sultry atmosphere, a summery look. The braided part stands out more in this photo than in the first. Your hair is clearly visible. It is clear that the sun and the wind played with your hair. Try to put your head a little straighter on your neck, that will give you an even more beautiful, long and feminine neck. So back straight, chest forward and head on your neck.

3rd photo: It certainly radiates tough and feminine! So you managed to put that down. Maybe the photo is a bit dark but that space is also very difficult to put down well. If you had put it a bit more inward, on your toe then it would have been even more headstrong and crazy. The arm makes it beautifully powerful, exactly what you wanted.

4th photo: You have clearly thought about the content of the photo and the text you added. That is a beautiful side of photography. It can serve as an illustration like here. It now has content and that is special. The flower is a bit too light and therefore requires a lot of attention. The funky dot on your head disappears a bit against the background because it is also dark. And you see that you do not always have to look into the camera, it is beautiful like this.

5th photo: completely new pose. Nice idea! The blue colours are indeed summery. Make sure your earrings don't get lost behind your ear, it looks a bit messy now. Your eyes and the look are very stubborn. Next time try to get rid of the reflection of the lamp (the maker will have to stand a bit more diagonally) and then it will be fine. By the way, your hair is not very visible in this photo, it spreads out but we don't see the state of your curl or afro.

General: well thought about the settings of the photo and what you wanted to radiate. That worked! Nicely written with the photos.

Model Xaviera

1st photo: this photo is really made for the hair. We can clearly see how the dreads fall on your head and why the hairstyle is called The up and down. Small detail; the photographer's foot is on it. For now of course not bad at all, but if it were a professional shoot, then that would not really be appropriate.

2nd photo: Nice to see the name of the hairstyle really reflected in your hairstyle. Beautiful photo that is different from usual. That you are on the right in the photo is something different. Nicely done! The shell shape and the beach go well together. The light also falls well on your shiny hair.

3rd photo: The sand has become a bit too light but your hair on the other hand comes out well. Photographing on a beach is also more difficult in terms of light conditions because the light is often hard.

4th photo: The cross on top of your head is beautiful! Small detail but surprising. The background is calm because of the recurring stones, that gives structure.

5th photo: nice dreads! We can see in this photo what the products do to your hair. It looks healthy, the light falls nicely on your black dreads.

Maybe a face in the photo would have been nice because then we could also see how your hair looks as a 'wearer'. Now we see the technical side of the hairstyle very well, but how it suits you as a person is less visible. Maybe a tip for next time.

General: In the photos the hair was very clearly visible. The technical part of your hairstyle is well presented. Next time it is also fun for the viewer to see which face the hair belongs to. Face the camera and it will be fine!

Model Rachel

1st photo: nice soft light on your face. You look pleasantly and calmly into the camera and your curls and the color of your hair come out well with this light.

2nd photo: again a completely different look. Beautiful and clever that you can show that too! Maybe the photo is a bit too dark. Your hair doesn't really stand out now, so we don't see the curls that well. But the pose with the arm is nicely nonchalant. And that's allowed!

3rd photo: Nice to see you completely. Then we can see how your hairstyle fits the rest of your body. Try to pay attention to small details; the red thing on the left and the yellow leg would be gone if you had taken a step to the left. You would also not have had any disturbing elements in the photo. Nice feminine pose and good to cross the legs, that gives something elegant.

4th photo: Nice spontaneous photo, nice up close too. That's good for diversity! Her hair is a bit too dark so the fine soft shiny curls don't really stand out. But your smile is beautiful!

5th photo: Lovely look up, dreamy and in yourself. Your right leg is pressed in, try next time to squeeze your leg less (yes, it takes some strength). Beautiful colours with your clothes and the background. They thought about that. However, your hair, which is also what it's all about, is now cut quite far. Your pretty face looks good on it, with your whole hairdo it would have been complete!

General: Diversity of looks and poses. You have thought about your body and how you want to place it in the photo. Pay attention to the dark photos, they can be a bit lighter.

To sum up, for me the real winner this week is:

– It’s a close call… because I think they all did well in their own way. Most of the models have thought about how and what they want to portray and that was exactly the assignment. If I really have to choose a winner, I’ll go for model Melanta, because she comes across as the most spontaneous in the photos.

Tips for all models, just tips and tricks:

– Taking photos in the middle of the day is often less favorable. The light is too harsh then. Try to capture the light of the morning or the afternoon, it is also a bit more sultry, a bit softer and that often makes your face look even more beautiful.

– Try to determine what you want in the photo. If you have a nice smooth wall and a very small piece of green from a hedge or a small piece of red flower, then that can still be distracting. Precisely because it is a bright color. So divide your photo by using yourself as the subject with a nice quiet or busy but regular background.

– A photo can need a bit of exaggeration, what feels like a big smile to you can come across as a normal smile. Make-up can look a bit less intense, while still being nicely thick. So a photo often needs just a little bit more, that goes for both look and pose.

– Pay attention to small things, hanging hooks that can come out of your blouse, folded edges of your clothing, a sticking out piece of hair, a socket in the wall. Those small details can sometimes be quite decisive in a photo.

– Try not to press your arms and legs too much (by sitting on a bench, hands pushing against your arm, arm pushing against the side of your body). This makes the limbs bigger and flatter.

– In the few photos you ‘have’, give as diverse a representation of yourself as possible. Don’t forget your hairstyle because in the end that’s what it’s all about. Make sure that’s the catch of the photo.

– Don’t forget that you have facial expressions that can radiate what you feel about the product. Happy, joyful, tough, feminine, powerful. You can radiate that with your face or let it come back in your posture.
