In February next year I will be doing another exhibition. Of course I am very happy about that. This time I will go even deeper and reflect the oh so loaded subject, which many people are still ashamed of: hair loss.
I chose this theme because I think it is very important for the further development of us and our hair. As many as 73% of frizzy-haired women suffer from hair breakage and hair loss as a result of using relaxers. What is the cause and what are we actually ashamed of?
The fact that curly hair still doesn't have the same rights as straight hair because straight hair is the norm, I believe directly relates to the disproportionate amount of hair loss that Black women face.
If afro hairstyles like dreadlocks were more accepted, hair loss would be much less. Whether that can be proven is the question. The goal of this exhibition is to convey that message in the hope of changing this.
