Kroeshaar.com introduces the very first modeling competition that puts kinky hair in the spotlight.

Ten models will compete online for ten weeks for the title of Miss Kroeshaar 2009. The votes of the jury and website members will determine who will be the winner and the new face of SME-OMROEP; the first multi-cultural public broadcaster.

sandy2.jpg Why this competition?
A disproportionately large percentage of Black women suffer from hair breakage and hair loss, yet out of shame, this issue is often not discussed, let alone addressed.

While the hair problems are a direct result of the use of products to defrizz the hair, the deeper cause lies in an undeniable cultural and societal pressure that every Black woman will face sooner or later; how else can she wear her hair? The well-known alternative options, an afro or dreadlocks, not only seem limited, the hairstyles are not always and everywhere accepted.

With this competition, kroeshaar.com therefore not only aims to promote the natural beauty and versatility of frizzy hair. The organization also strives to bring the prejudices regarding this hair type to the attention so that frizzy hair can finally take a rightful position in society.

Who is Miss Kroeshaar?
Miss Kroeshaar is a beautiful woman who, through her inner and powerful beauty, expresses frizzy hair in a graceful way. She is self-assured, full of life and remarkably creative in creating hairstyles. Interested parties can now register via the website kroeshaar.com.

Even before her successful debut with the very first Dutch book on kinky hair, Drs. Mireille Liong-A-Kong developed the website kroeshaar.com. She has since used her degree in Computer Science to develop the site into an impressive one-stop-shop that is leading in the field of kinky hair and completely up-to-date when it comes to new technology.
