Hi!
Kroeshaar.com welcomes anyone interested in beautiful and healthy frizzy or curly hair.
This renewed site is a gift from the Kroeshaar WebShop that has been around for almost 5 years now. The look and feel is a reflection of the active participation, reactions and other contributions of visitors.
The website started in 2002 as a supplement to the very first book Kroeshaar (Froeshair, what you need to know and more). When I decided to stop relaxing in 2000, there was no Dutch literature on frizzy hair. This, while I had 100,000 questions about my hair. Every time after chemically straightening, the hair broke off down to my scalp. To prevent myself from going bald, I went looking for information on how to best care for frizzy hair and what is possible with this hair type. My latest findings are described in Chemisch smooth naar Natuurlijk Kroeshaar (Chemically Smooth to Naturally Frizzy Hair), available in better bookstores and here in the WebShop.
The idea for kroeshaar.com came about because I was very curious about the reaction to my book, but especiallyMireille Kroeshaar Afro to finally get the discussion about kinky hair going. Not only are there many misunderstandings about our hair, some things are even still taboo. Research shows that 73% of black women suffer from hair breakage and hair loss as a result of using relaxers. However, because of a negative image, many black women do not dare to wear kinky hair. They think, among other things, that they are unattractive with the hair they were naturally born with and for some, kinky hair styles are even socially unacceptable.
With this site I hope to change this. The goal of kroeshaar.com is to promote the natural beauty and versatility of kinky hair and to highlight the right care for this hair type. In this way I hope to contribute to healthier hair for all women in the Diaspora and to a positive image of kinky hair in general. Your contribution, in whatever way, is greatly appreciated.
Tang bung,
(stay in good health)
Mireille
