Two years ago I wanted to design a calendar with curly hair hairstyles. This year it almost passed me by, because I didn't want to be on the calendar by myself. Since I am really proud of kroeshaar.com and what it has achieved, I would have preferred a calendar of the beautiful hairstyles of the visitors who make this site what it is. Unfortunately that didn't work out for several reasons. Among other things because the photos that were sent in were not good enough to be enlarged. Difficult, so I thought I'd just wait another year.
Until I saw a call for the Nappy New Year Calendar. Everyone could mail one or more photos of which twelve would be selected for a calendar. If I didn't succeed I hoped that someone else could make this idea come true. More to support the idea than to be selected I sent a few photos. I felt incredibly flattered when I received an email that my photo had been selected and not only that; I was also on the cover with my Afro photo. I seriously didn't expect that.
This event not only made me think, it helped me over the threshold to finally make a calendar. As far as I know, a frizzy calendar has never been made in the Netherlands or in Suriname. The idea is, at least now, original and with one person you can very well show the versatility of frizzy hair.
By means of twelve different hairstyles I hope to also spread the goal of this website outside the Internet. With each hairstyle you will find the name, background information and instructions. And yes, the most requested hairstyles, the afro and the twistout, are also on the calendar. With this I hope to inform interested parties and to help those who are considering going frizzy, to overcome the threshold. In addition, I sincerely hope that this initiative is appreciated, that many more women will wear their hair naturally and that I can make a calendar of my beloved visitors next year.
