Hi Isabella, how nice to talk to you again. How are you now?
Things are going well, I'm looking forward to doing new things again.
Is your scalp still sore?
It still irritates me sometimes, but my head is doing really well
Does your scalp still look the same as in the picture or has the health of your scalp improved somewhat? Maybe in terms of health or hair growth?
Yes, unfortunately my head will continue to look like this (forever) I have to take care of it regularly to prevent inflammation. Hair growth is out of the question, it will never come back.
How do you care for your scalp?
I wash it thoroughly, 1 to 2 times a week I remove the hairpiece, and I have found that Sanex without scent and perfume actually cleans best without any irritation feeling. Only, when removing I have to be careful with the tapes, the skin is so thin and then it can sometimes come with skin. That is annoying because it takes so long for it to heal.
How is the lawsuit going? Is it over or still ongoing?
Yes, to my regret it is still ongoing, they have asked for another biop, and I agreed to that. They are prolonging the case, hoping that I will give up. But” that is not the case with me.
I understand that you now sell hairpieces yourself. How did that come about?
I kept running into trouble with good hairpieces for a good price, so I did some research in different countries. I requested samples with my own head mold, the price was enormous and the hair was great. Then I thought that besides helping myself I could also help others. With this idea I applied for a loan at the bank and I used myself as an example. Within 5 minutes they decided to grant the loan. I also approached different TV programs to get free publicity. All were impressed that someone with such a background could still look good and be positive. The program "It could happen to you" is going to make a report about me, this month I am in the medical journal, Burn Centers + Alopecia Association want me to come to them, as a spokesperson. In April I will be at the Burns Fair. I achieved all this by sending the organizations an email with a before and after photo and a short story.
In February my business will officially open. Wholesale ISAB, in hairpieces, wigs, hairweaving. The beautiful “Dubai had approached me to deliver there.
What can people expect when they come to you for a hairpiece?
First I will help where I can help, and make sure they can feel top man, woman, boy or girl again. Prices are affordable and the hair is TOP & TOP like their own hair was.
So it's for men too?
Yes, this also applies to men, they also have to deal with hair loss.
Can you give a price indication? And how long does it take before customers have their own hairpiece?
Price is 750€ and the hairpiece will be there within 3 weeks. Really beautiful quality hair. And for those who have nothing in the meantime I always have a wig so they don't have to walk around bald
How do you take care of such a hairpiece? Can you just wash it, can you sleep with it? Can you tell us something about the daily care of such a hairpiece?
You can do everything with it, dye, blow-dry, steam, everything. Care: If you sleep with it daily it is best to wash it at least once a week. Shampoo I can't decide, because everyone can decide for themselves what is best.
A good tip: for a hairpiece (real hair) that is a bit dull you can treat it with fabric softener. You comb it, spray lacquer on it if desired and it fits like a glove, use a curling/styling comb and style it as desired. In case of excessive heat from a hairstylist or blow dryer you can take extra care of it with balm or conditioner. Then such a hairpiece will last at least a year and a half. If you don't sleep with it at night, it will last 3 years.
On your site I only see smooth hair hairpieces. I think that is just like that commercial of that colored man who needs a hearing aid and he wants one in his own color. Do you also have for afros, dreadlocks or braids? Do you know that commercial?
Yes and luckily I had a photo shoot tonight. There will be other photos with many different hairstyles very soon, short, long, curly, straight. The dreadlocks + braids I have in the weaving section. There is little demand for custom hairpieces.
Did you know that 73% of women who relax suffer from hair breakage, hair loss and bald spots? This is partly because they have suffered burns from using these relaxers, just like you. What do you think about that?
Now I can say “Take care of your hair” and I think it’s really bad that so many women have to deal with this. Buy a wig if you want a change. Often a partner also likes to have a new girlfriend for a change. At least this way your own hair doesn’t get damaged.
If you woke up tomorrow and suddenly had your old, full head of healthy, curly hair back, would you relax again?
No, I would buy wigs. But relax NEVER again.
What do you think about frizzy hair?
Now that I don't have it anymore BEAUTIFUL you can do so much with it, and it is a lot stronger than European hair.
You look good in your hair and you seem to be doing well. Do you think you can work as a model again now? If not, why not? If yes, please explain.
Now that I am back in front of the camera for my site to photograph different hairstyles, photographers still ask me if I would like to work for them. But the answer is No, firstly I feel too old and wise for that and secondly, there is more to me than just the looks alone.
