It won't be long now. The afro hair exhibition BAD Hair Uprooted is going to Paris! Of course I am overjoyed. Finally I will experience Boucles d'Ebene. This event that once started as a Natural Hair Expo has now grown into the largest Black Trade show with entrepreneurs from the entire Diaspora and even Africa. From hair and fashion to food and education.

The fact that my exhibition will be on display is a great honor. In addition, I will also get the stage to give a lecture on the subject of my exhibition: “Bad hair uprooted”. It is quite a lot of work but it is endlessly exciting.

The icing on the cake is that I am accompanied by a Surinamese and Antillean delegation.

doreen-springers Meet: Doreen Sprengers

In case you don't know her yet, Doreen Sprengers is the brains and energy behind the up and coming fashion brand Bebe Rose!

Bebe Rose appears at the beginning of 2015 as a refreshing face in the fashion industry. The brand is a tribute to the African community and its Diaspora and represents the fashion-conscious black men and women with a positive self-image. The clothing line consists mainly of T-shirts, with strong statements, combined with bright colors.

At the helm of Bebe Rose is founder and Creative Director, Miss Dee. Born in Suriname, raised in the Netherlands. A tour of the fashion industry has yielded a monotonous image for her for years. Tall blonde models who all look the same. It bothered her immensely. She missed color in a dominant white fashion industry and decided to represent different cultures and colors with the brand Bebe Rose. In this way, Miss Dee also pays tribute to her own roots, which can be seen in the designs of Bebe Rose. Her website www.bebe-rose.com

Sherlon Gerard

For those who don't know him yet, Sherlon Gerard is the man behind Miss Black Hair Nederland. How refreshing that a man who consciously chose a woman with naturally frizzy hair also successfully organizes such an election. An inspiring man. If you read his motivation I know Visit his website: Miss Black Hair Nederland.

Sherlon is coming with a delegation of five, so I certainly won't feel lonely.

All the way from Suriname: Tirza Baank !

Last on the list is Tirzah Baank. She is still planning a few things but she is no stranger to Europe. Tirzah has not only been to the Netherlands more often, she also knows her way around Paris very well. So if you still want to come along to enjoy a weekend in Paris and join us at Boucles d'Ebene, please email me. The more souls, the more joy.
