Sunday, June 29th will be a historic day. Not only do we celebrate 162 years of emancipation, this year we also literally honor our natural hair roots. Whether you have an Afro, weave, braids, curls, locs, or straight hair – we will make history together at the very first Keti Koti Natural Hair Day.
From BAD Hair Uprooted, the Untold History of Black Follicles Documentary
The link between hair loss and unequal hair rights
In the cozy space of MART Radio in Amsterdam-Southeast, I will take you into Bad Hair Uprooted – the untold history that shows the connection between hair loss, stigma, prejudice, and unequal hair rights.
Black people are the only ones on this planet who do not have the human right to wear their hair naturally. Through hairstyles, photos, and a mini-documentary, the consequences of this inequality are made visible. This is your chance to experience BAD Hair Uprooted – the exhibition and documentary for which I received an award in New York – up close.
From stigmas to prejudices: we will not only uproot the idea of 'bad hair', but also obliterate it with the splendor and power of natural hairstyles – from Afros to locs.

Headscarves, Angisas and Headwraps
No Keti Koti without headscarves! That's why we are organizing a Headwrap Competition, where you as the audience will choose the winner.
Whoever creates the most styles with our Magic Headwrap will win a surprise package from the brand new Natural Hair Shop – just launched and full of essentials for your natural crown.
