Following her successful presentation in New York, where she was honored with a Certificate of Recognition of the City of New York for her pioneering work in Black Hair activism, Dr. Mireille Liong is now live in Amsterdam. On Sunday, June 29, she will give a unique lecture at the Roots Redics Café, focusing on the rich history and beauty of kinky hair.
At a time when wearing natural hair is still seen as a statement, this afternoon provides space for awareness, connection, and celebration. While enjoying refreshing cocktails, homemade bites, and a warm atmosphere, Dr. Liong will take the audience on an engaging and confronting journey through the unwritten history of kinky hair – and how this continues to impact our society today.

Using images, personal experiences, and excerpts from her documentary BAD Hair Uprooted, Dr. Mireille Liong reveals the structural exclusion of kinky hair and the fight for equal hair rights.
