An updo or a pinned up hairstyle has many advantages, especially when it comes to frizzy hair. First of all, you don't have to worry too much about your hairstyle falling apart like when the hair is straightened. Frizzy hair naturally stands proudly upright, as is said, in connection with the higher.
Another advantage, compared to a twist out for example, is that you don't have to be afraid that you will "sweat out" your hairdo. My very first twist out was at the end of the evening and a collapsed afro. That was because I didn't really know what I was doing but even more because I didn't have the right products at hand. The Curl Keeper didn't even exist at that time.
The best thing about an updo for me is that you really don't have to worry about your hair getting tangled. That's very important, especially if you're a daring dancer like me. With straightened hair I really didn't dare look in the mirror at the end of the evening. I knew I looked like a drowned cat otherwise my straightened ends would stick out in all directions. With this updo I can tell you that won't be a problem at all, but not only that. The hairstyle gives you a completely different look and you can even look chic with it. Here are the instructions.
Supplies:
A big, delicious wild mane of curls or frizzy hair
Herbal Styling Gel or the Curly Twistout Hair Cream
Hairpins and Hair Clips for Frizzy Hair
Soft brush
Step 1: Combing or brushing out is optional. For example, if you just did a twist out, you can leave the waves in the hair like I did. If you don't want that, if you want the hair to look smoother, you can brush the hair out.
Step 2: Bring all of your hair back and twist it into a roll. You may need to do this a few times to get the hang of it, but once it's in, take a size 1 hairpin and pin it all together. See video. Sorry the video is a bit blurry. I hope you can at least get the rolling moment out of it.
For me, only one bobby pin is needed because I am very handy by now but use as many bobby pins as necessary. Once the hair is nice and secure, continue with step 3.
Step 3: Now take a good look at how you want to put up the hair. Do you want the side to lie as flat as possible or do you want it to be a bit curly? Again, use hair brushes to keep the curls in place if necessary.
Step 4: This is where you can really go wild and let your imagination run wild. For example, see which way you prefer your hair to go, or if you like it up in a frizzy bun, or if you prefer it to lie flat. Keep your hair pins handy to pin the look down as soon as you find it.
Step 5: Decorating is the most fun phase. Take as many decorative pins as you want. These silver ones from the webshop are always handy. Especially for bridal hairstyles or just for weddings I often see women wearing them. So they can be used for any occasion. I usually use 3 in the front and 3 in the back, but see what you like. Good luck! Of course I look forward to your reactions.
