In the picture my very first professional haircut in America, Flattwists. It was also the first hair show I ever visited in New York and my very first professional photoshoot.
Hairdresser Netu was looking for models for the hair show. As a model you got a free haircut so me and my never straightened hair were there like a shot.
Photographer Keston Duke took pictures for all the models who participated and that's how I ended up with a photo of this event that took place in 2002. I was also able to use the photo for the cover of my first book, Kroeshaar, wat je moet weten en meer. Who still remembers that? As you can see, this is a timeless hairstyle. It can always be worn for any occasion. After that, I went to Netu many times. Every time it was just a little bit different.
That frizzy hair is never the same I soon realized. I myself have never succeeded in making Flattwists. Maybe I am not handy enough or do not have enough patience.
Very quickly I came to the conclusion that some things you just have to leave to the professionals, don't you think?

Now I'm curious about your opinion. What do you think of this haircut? Old-fashioned or still possible?
