Nina with the hair in Doodles
I love my 'frotastic hair', but sometimes I want a change. When I feel like it, it's time for Doodles. In the book Curly Like Me Teri LaFlesh describes how to do that and this is the method I follow. It's the ideal way to get perfect curls in my hair that also stay in place for a long time and the best part: it's all my own hair!
Step 1
Freshly washed and conditioned hair. You do that with:
For Doodles you will need:
a. Going Natural Herbal Shampoo
b. Going-Natural No More Knots Spray
Required Products:
a. Going-Natural Herbal Gel
b. Silky shea hair butter (Optional but recommended)
3. Basic Supplies:
a. Duck Bill Clips
b. Spray bottle (to moisten hair if it gets dry)
c. Knots teezer a super tool to adequately detangle hair and form curls.
d. Optional: a comb to divide the hair
Make sure your freshly washed hair is still damp. Keep a spray bottle handy so you can easily keep your hair moist as it dries.
Step 2
Make sure you have good lighting so you can see which way to turn the hair.
I like to start by sectioning my hair so that the process is easier. That's what I use the clips for. They hold the hair in place.
Detangle hair with the Knot Teezer. Then divide the large section into even smaller sections with the pointed handle of the comb.
Then add the Going Natural Products:
1. Add the Silky shea Hair Butter per section
2. 2. Add the Going-Natural Herbal Gel .
Use the Knot Teezer; once you have added the going natural products to the section you are going to doodle, make sure the products are well absorbed into the hair. You do this using the Knot Teezer, starting from the end of the hair and working your way towards the scalp.
Step 3

Once you have completed steps 1 and 2 it is time to doodle!
1. Take a small section of detangled hair where the Going Natural products have been added.
a.Note: You can add a small amount of gel or hair butter to your finger to make it easier to roll.
2. Wrap the hair around your index finger as shown in the photo.
3. Do this until you have a nice curl, from the starting point of your hair to the end point of your hair.
Hint: Don't pull or wrap so hard that hair comes out. Be gentle.
Step 4

Check out your own tight curl! Let it go and continue with the rest of your hair.
Leave the doodles you have already made alone as they are easy to disturb until they are dry.
Repeat this step by step for each section.
Note: Your hair may not look exactly like the picture because hair varies in type and length. Either way, the result will create beautiful curls for all types of frizzy hair!
Step 5
The doodles are done and I'm ready to go!

Here are some simple instructions to take care of your doodles:
1.Sleep with a loose-fitting silk or satin hood on at night.
2. For extra protection, sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase.
3. Refresh your curls in the morning with some Silky Shea or Hair Milk.
4. Keep your hands out of your hair! Your fingers can mess up the beautiful curls.
Doodling with the Going Natural Hair products is super easy. I used the Going-Natural Herbal Gel and my hair feels soft, shiny and the curls are very good. Even in the wind.
