Braids, how to take them out

M. Liong

False braids, braided hair, extensions, crochet braids, whatever you want to call them, loosening them is never fun. Some people even find that their hair breaks, but if your hair is braided properly, i.e. not in super thin braids, not too tight and not 2 minutes after it has been relaxed, then it can hardly help but flourish.

Ingevlochten kroeshaar going natural no more knots detangler It takes time and patience to take out braided hair, but if you've done a good job, your hair should look healthy again. So learn how to take out extensions the right way.

First of all, it is essential to know that the most important step is that you do not leave your braids in for too long. Two, maximum three months, but that is really it. The longer you leave your braids in your hair, the harder it will be to take them out. Frizzy hair that naturally clicks will curl and then it is really difficult to get your hair loose again.

Braiding, plaiting, false braids, crochet braids and weaves are fun but after a while they have to be loosened and that is often not fun.

Removing extensions usually takes more time than adding them, hence this removal combo put together to make your life easier.

Step 1 – Preparation

The night before you take out your braids, spray your hair completely with the No More Knots Detangler. This spray contains the right ingredients to even soften the hair strands between the false hair.

Then put on the Conditioning Cap and, if necessary, wear a turban or headscarf to ensure that the cap does not shift while you sleep.

Step 2 – Get to work

The Conditioning Cap traps heat. So if you sleep with the cap on while you have the No More Knots in your hair, you will get an overnight treatment. The heat ensures that the detangler is properly absorbed by the hair and strengthens the strands. When you are ready the next day, put your hair in a ponytail and leave a few braids out so you can get started right away. If you are not using real hair, cut the hair 1 cm below your own hair length. This makes it easier to undo the braid.

Step 4 – Unravel

Start at the end of the braid to undo it and work your way down to your scalp. This should be easy to do. It’s just like undoing a regular braid. Be careful when you get to the part where your natural hair is in the fake braid. Don’t get your hair tangled in the fake hair. When you get to your scalp, the fake hair should be able to slide out of your natural hair easily. If it doesn’t, spray on some No More Knots and move on to the next braid so the detangler has time to soak in.

Step 5 – Remove dirt

Once the fake hair is out, you will most likely find that your hair is held together by a clump of accumulated dust residue.

Don't panic. It's natural. Every day our hair and scalp are exposed to dirt and dust residues around us. We don't notice it because we shower every day and wash our hair regularly.

With extensions it is impossible to wash away these dirt residues. They nestle exactly at the point where the false braid is attached to your own hair and that is where it also accumulates.

Spray some No More Knots Detangler into your hair and onto the dust before you continue. Once your hair is damp, break up the clump of dust. A very soft brush can sometimes help remove the dust, but often it’s best to use your fingers. Take your time and get as much of the dust out of your hair as possible.

Step 6 – Untie

Once the bulk is removed, use a comb or brush to detangle the hair. The ingredients in the no more knots will leave your hair feeling soft and supple right away.

Once the hair is combed out, twist it and continue through the rest of the hair until all the extensions are out of the hair.

The hair that comes out of the braid is hair that falls out naturally and is part of the hair growth cycle. Just like the dust residue has not had the chance to be washed out of the hair, this hair has not had the chance to fall out the natural way. The extensions hold everything together.
