Customer of the week: Flakes gone after using Clean Start. Kirsten has been a customer of Kroeshaar.com for a long time. She orders products to care for her adopted daughter's hair and asked for advice with the following email:
Hi Mireille,
My daughter has dandruff/flakes mainly on top of her head and in the front and her scalp also looks a bit grey/white and very dry. Strangely enough, she doesn't have that at the back.

Sometimes I braid fake hair through it but that requires a lot of patience and she doesn't have that. I think it's a shame that she's still not happy with her beautiful frizzy hair but I also understand because it remains difficult and it doesn't get any longer. If we don't braid or twist it it looks like the attached photo and it shrinks within a day and after a night's sleep it stands straight up on her head and can't be gotten through anymore...
Here's how she uses the Going Natural products:
At the moment I wash her hair about once every two weeks (with Clean Start shampoo and detox conditioner ) and then I twist it loosely and use No More Knots and Curly Twistout Hair Cream . Finally I put beads in it because otherwise it quickly unravels again. But because she exercises a lot, she often takes a shower in between (with a bathing cap on) and her hair gets damp and shrinks (with twist and all). It is frustrating for her that it does not grow but she really does not want sisterlocks.
After regular use she now emailed the following:
Dear Mireille,
My daughter's hair is doing well. Fortunately, she no longer has dandruff. See also attached photo.
My daughter is now eleven years old, she will be twelve in December. In the picture I just did her hair and then I made it quite long indeed. But it really shrinks enormously, even with braids and especially with twists. After a few days it is much shorter, especially because she does a lot of sports and swimming. If the hair gets damp or wet it shrinks immediately, even with braids and especially with twists. Beads do help because they give some weight to the bottom.
