Mireille Liong

The first Kroeshaar Live broadcast was a great success! More than 2000 people watched the video and I also had to answer more than 100 questions. There is clearly work to be done. That is why I am Live again on Monday evening with a broadcast about Kroeshaar, Hairstyles and hair care. 20:00 Surinamese time, 00:00 Dutch time. This week, week 2, Kroeshaar Live is about hair loss, care and products to make your hair grow.

Kroeshaar Live Uitzending over Haarverzorging en producten These topics were actually planned for later on the agenda, but so many questions came in about thin hair, hair loss and how can I grow my hair, that I decided to do it now. Ultimately, you as a customer are the queen, you decide what is discussed. Your comments are therefore important.

Back to the topic. Hair loss is a huge problem, in fact the biggest beauty problem, within the black community. Everyone has hair loss, even non-black people, but black women suffer from hair loss more than any other ethnic group. Hairstylist Shamboosie says that every black woman knows someone with hair loss.

Hair loss, hair breakage and hair that does not grow
But first let's specify what hair loss exactly is, because we call everything hair loss, but there is a difference between hair loss, hair breakage and hair that does not grow.

Hair growth

Let's start with hair that doesn't grow. Why doesn't your hair grow? I made a video about that before. See my youtube channel .

The bottom line is this. If you are normally healthy and eat reasonably healthy, your hair should also grow normally. You can compare it to the growth of a baby. A normal baby has everything it needs to grow healthily into a fully-fledged adult. Even with poor nutrition, a baby can reach maximum length, but the teeth may fall out or the bones may become brittle. Poor nutrition has consequences. It is the same with hair, if you do not eat healthy or lack certain vitamins and minerals, your hair will have difficulty growing. As a result, the hair can also become dull and break easily.

Hair loss

Hair loss can have different causes, medical, stress but also bad hair care. Stress can make the hair gray in a day but also cause considerable bald spots. A divorce, exams, unemployment, death, but also illness, anesthesia and medication can cause stress which leads to hair loss. Life has overwhelming moments and you notice these immediately in the hair. The body reacts to stress. The positive thing about this is that it is temporary.

Other causes of hair loss include medication, insufficient protein, poor diet or hormone fluctuations. Permanent hair loss or alopecia is usually genetic and there is little that can be done about it other than implants.

Hair break

Hair breakage is mainly caused by poor care. Our hair breaks off before it can reach its maximum length. How does this happen: combing, knotting, pulling the hair, using too many false braids, weaves, blow-drying, tongs, relaxing.

Then I come straight to cause no. 1: No less than 73% of our women suffer from hair breakage and hair loss as a result of using relaxers and weaves and even braids these days. These figures are disproportionate by any standard and something serious needs to be done.

That's why I do what I do. The goal of my company and my person as a Social Entrepreneur is to change the perspective of afro hair, because everything stands or falls with perspective.

It is not bad at all that we relax or weave our hair, what is bad is that we destroy our hair. To illustrate this, this example of a Jewish-White friend of mine. She also relaxed once but because her hair broke, she never thought about relaxing her hair again.

When I heard this I thought my hair fell out three times in a row after relaxing, why didn't I stop after the first time? Because it's the norm in the black community. We don't even realize it because we have such an abusive relationship with our hair.

We say we are proud people and we love our hair, but if we really loved our hair, would so many of us destroy it? We are programmed to believe that frizzy hair is not good enough and so we obsessively compulsive about straightening or changing our hair texture. This is the root cause of our disproportionate hair loss and that is why we need to change our perception of frizzy hair, let go of those delusions and stereotypes and take good care of our own hair.

So the number one cause of our hair loss is relaxers weaves and braids, but especially the way we think about our hair. We are constantly trying to change the structure of our hair or to lengthen our hair. This is not good for the health of our hair.

Hair products that make hair grow

Health, products and care

For your hair to grow, there needs to be a healthy breeding ground. That breeding ground is you, which means that you need to be healthy, eat, drink and sleep normally healthy.

In addition, it is of course also essential that you take good care of your hair. That means that you should avoid all actions that break the hair and make it fall out. Blow-drying, tongs, pulling the hair, adding too much false hair, etc. All those actions that cause the hair to break before it can reach its maximum length and then I come to the last point of today; hair care. You can smear all the hair growth products on your hair, but if the base is not good, it will not work.

Products for hair growth

Now, here is my public secret for hair growth. Those who live in Suriname can purchase the Scalp Conditioning Spray , it repairs the hair and stimulates hair growth. You can see that not only in my hair, but also my hairdresser Adenike from WovenWool advises all her clients with hair breakage, the Scalp Conditioning Spray . Those in the Netherlands can order online.

But I have another secret remedy: the roller braid. I also suffer from stress from time to time, such as the recent period with the sick bed of my sister Tineke, who has since passed away. Don't ask me why, but during the entire time I have not used the scalp spray once. Probably just too much stress or something, again I don't know why

Anyway, my hairdresser could see that I had been going through a stressful period and now I quickly started using it again, but as an extra I quickly put together the new roller braid for hair growth because this formula has always helped me and as far as I know it works for everyone.

What is the roller braid?

The roller braid is a roll-on that is formulated to stimulate hair growth. It is the easiest way to do this. I am a super easy-going person myself, so if I have to get oil or something from a bottle every time, it will not work. That is why this super easy to use roll on, composed of the top three ingredients to stimulate hair growth: Rosemary, Castor oil, Aloe vera. Neem has been added to prevent itching and flaking.
