Hair care for women with real, very curly, frizzy hair

Mireille Liong

Dear Mireille, Could you please give me advice about my hair. I have really frizzy hair. It is not thick but it has a lot of tangles and breaks off when combing. I braid it but the hair grows so slowly.

Sterk gekruld kroeshaar

I have two boys every time after giving birth my hair broke and now it is unhealthy. During pregnancy the hair is thick long and beautiful but after that there is nothing left of my hair.

The first time I had to use antibiotics after an infection after giving birth, my hair also fell out. The second time after giving birth I had not used anything. Years ago I had used a kind of relaxer for frizzy hair and that had also destroyed my hair.

I want to look well groomed with my frizzy hair. But when I twist it, it is frizzy and looks like it hasn't been braided in months. And I have almost no hair left at my hairline.

I had weaved and after I took it out my hair is completely gone in the front. What products can I use? And can I do twist out with my hair. I am not a mix. When I say frizzy it really is frizzy. Advice for care, beautiful healthy hair and what to use to make it grow healthy.

I have had frizzy hair for over ten years. But it seems like I am in a maze with my hair. I am from the interior. I braid my hair with kinky extension. What products can I use when I have braided my hair? And what products without the braids? I live in Belgium now. Also advice for my hair during the winter and the other seasons.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Kind regards

Dear Anonymous ,

Thank you for visiting kroeshaar.com and for the email. I think it is a very important email because there are so many questions that others probably have as well.

First of all, the “real” frizzy hair as you call it is unfortunately often referred to as hair that is very difficult. The term is mainly used to emphasize negative stereotypical characteristics of frizzy hair; that it is hard, difficult to comb and that it does not grow. Nothing could be further from the truth. This hair type is very unique because the vast majority of people do not walk around with natural hair. It is what is characterized as the 4C hair type, where most curls have an O shape. For an explanation read: What hair type do you have: frizzy, very curly, S or zigzag strands?

From what I hear, your body and therefore your hair have had to endure a lot. Although antibiotics can help with infections, it has very nasty consequences for the hair. It can even cause hair loss.

During pregnancy, hair usually blooms due to the hormone development in the body. It is also normal for hair to fall out again afterwards for the same reason, but that does not mean that the hair is unhealthy. It is part of the process of de-pregnancy.

Now, the bald hairline, before I read it I already knew. Weaves are a misery for the fine sensitive hairs at the front. But also if you braid the hair too tight your hair can break or even fall out. So be careful with that.

What you need to know is that all the negative things about frizzy hair are only true if you expect frizzy hair to be the same as straight hair. You can't compare frizzy hair to straight hair or vice versa. Just like you can't say that straight hair is difficult hair because it can barely hold a wiggly or braided hair.

It usually takes a while to get the hang of this change, but here are pictures of hairstyles with hair type 4c, the most frizzy hair, to show you how beautiful and versatile this type of frizzy hair is. You can also make a twist out with your hair type. Click here for the article Twist Out for Hair Type 4C .

The fact that it seems like your hair is growing "hard" probably has to do with the fact that your hair is breaking off. In order to gain length, your hair needs to be able to reach its maximum length, but this process is disrupted if the hair is constantly breaking off.

Frizzy hair often breaks prematurely because it is dry and is combed out dry, causing the hair strands to break right at the point where a curl is formed. To prevent this, you need to have the right tools and the right products at home.

As always, I recommend starting with a clean slate. That is, the Clean Start consisting of the Going Natural Herbal Shampoo and Going Natural Detox Conditioner . Then you not only know that your hair is wonderfully clean but the hair also gets a nice boost of vitamins and minerals.

In addition, I would advise you to purchase a large anti-static comb with rounded tips and the No More Knots , the detangler to comb out your hair. This combination will really make combing your hair much easier.

Furthermore for the care and a very nice twist out the Going Natural Herbal Styling Gel and Curly Twistout Hair Cream . I sincerely hope that you try the products, moreover that they like them and that you send us a picture or upload one yourself.

Odi, good luck and see you soon.
