July 28, 2011 – On Saturday September 17 and Sunday September 18, Kroeshaar.com, in collaboration with SME Omroep, is organizing the second kinky hair weekend in the No Limt building on the Gelderse kade in Amsterdam Zuid Oost.
During this Beauty weekend, not only curly hair styles and hair care are central, a bit of history is also discussed. According to SME Omroep, this is essential to tackle the incomplete stereotypical image that exists of African hair, from the root.
The ultimate goal is healthier hair and a healthier scalp for black women, says initiator Mireille Liong, who reached the top in America with her book Going Natural, How to Fall in Love With Nappy Hair. More than any other population group, we have to deal with hair breakage and hair loss and something really needs to be done about that, says Liong motivated. Her bestseller is available in all American bookstores, via amazon.com and via her own website Going-Natural.com.
In addition to workshops, the Kroeshaar Weekend also includes a number of documentaries and Black films. Several top American hairdressers have been invited to provide workshops. As a highlight of the weekend, an international hair show has been planned in which American stylists will also participate.
