I participate in Miss Blackhair Netherlands because I think it is important that young girls/ladies feel more confident about themselves. I myself have often had to deal with insecurities. My skin color in the first place. When I was eleven, that was my hair before I went to secondary school. 'You could say I didn't always feel beautiful.'
My name is Daphne Baloe. I am 18 years old and born and raised in Amsterdam South-East.
Missblack Hair is all about the dark woman in her natural state. Especially the self-confidence of the dark woman plays a very big role during the beauty pageant.
That there is a beauty pageant for dark women with fine curly hair was strange to me at first but I am also super happy that something like this is finally being organized. In addition, I also see this as an opportunity to develop my skills. I am still young and hear very often that I still have oceans of time to decide what I actually want.
The trajectory is almost over and I am currently in a completely different position in life than before I started the trajectory. I not only want to develop myself but also help people to experience their talents. I myself know that experiencing your talents can be a very long route (a route that I am still walking myself).
I hope this pageant can help me further on this path. At the moment I already have my own blog, Youtube channel and Facebook page where I currently mainly talk about frizzy hair but I want to do so much more than that and I know that much more is possible than that.
If you want to support me and the other misses during the finals, you can do so at;
