How old were you when you first had your hair relaxed and what did you think of it?
I was 12. And to be honest I was so happy with it, I thought then... yes finally smooth hair that I can comb myself into a nice style.

When and why did you go curly?
I was pregnant again and I knew that it was the best opportunity to grow my hair again. When I saw how beautiful and wonderful my hair had grown I felt much better.

What was the hardest part about going curly for you?

In the middle phase because then there was hardly any hope.. I didn't want to leave home. I didn't know what to do so I had to wear a wig.

And the best part about going curly?
When I finally cut my hair, it was such a relief. I was so happy with my hair after such a long time. And it just keeps growing. And the best part is, it's my own hair.

What has this experience taught you?
That God makes no mistakes. And my hair is truly my most precious possession. And there is so much I can do with my own hair.

What's your best and worst haircut ever?
Best hairstyle for me is braided thin kwi kwi ba. Worst hairstyle for me is called pier piri nja njang foru .. look like half a chicken plucked out and still wet .. imagine that.

Looking back now, has your perception of frizzy hair changed now that you've gone frizzy?
Yes, of course. I wish I had all this information back then. And I'm glad I can go with the flow now. I'm finally not an outsider anymore. I finally feel good.

What is your favorite hairstyle?
The mohak.

I love my hair because : It's mine no one can take it from me.

Naomi lives in Brooklyn and enjoyed taking pictures of her beautiful hairstyle.
During the photoshoot she spontaneously asked this curly head if he wanted to be in the picture too. Typical Naomi.
