Dance talent Omani Ormskirk is only seventeen years old, but already has an impressive international CV. The Rotterdam native dreams of a top career in the international dance world and will be allowed to participate in the Summer Intensive Advanced Class of the Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York this summer.

In 2013 Omani was a contestant on the popular television program, So You Think You Can Dance –The Next Generation. She finished second and the judges attributed her a promising career. In 2015 she was crowned Senior Grand Champion Dancer Of The World in Las Vegas in the renowned international World Championships Of Performing Arts. The event is seen as the Olympic Games for performing arts with participants from all over the world.
Omani was allowed to talk about her experiences and passion for dance at the TedxCoolsingel in November 2015. In it, the young dance talent said that it is her dream to one day perform with her great idol Beyonce.
Omani is currently in class 5 VWO for music and dance in Rotterdam. There, in addition to the standard curriculum, she follows 15 hours of intensive dance training per week.
“My biggest dream is to continue my studies in the United States after obtaining my VWO diploma. I would love to go to Juilliard in New York to get my 'Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance' there.”
The perfect stepping stone to the prestigious Juilliard seems to have been found in the Dance Theatre of Harlem Summer Intensive in New York. After a rigorous audition, Omani has been accepted into the Advanced Class of this program. This is a wonderful opportunity to take dance lessons at a great dance academy taught by renowned teachers. It is a chance for Omani to get a taste of life in New York, and the hard work that comes with it.
“This Summer Intensive would give me the opportunity to further develop myself as a dancer, to become even better technically and to do everything I can to become the best dancer I can be.”
