Amy Adams, a teacher by profession, attended the very first Sabi Wiri Dei in Theater Unique in Paramaribo on September 12, 2003. She was so inspired by the Kroeshaar Presentation that she immediately started curling her hair. She came to me very proudly and said: My locs are as old as your first presentation.
Well, to be honest, I was at least as proud of her and the beautiful dreadlocks that gracefully fall over her shoulders. It's always nice to hear that you inspire people, but to see the proof in person of a Sranan Oema who is proud of her beautiful healthy hair is truly the best compliment I can ever get. That's what I do it for!
Short natural coilsI hope from the bottom of my heart that in the near future there will be many more black women walking around who are proud of their own hair. I like to let everyone make their own choice but I have to say honestly it hurts me when I hear women say they bought “real” Brazilian, Indian Remy hair or whatever, knowing it is to “cover up” their shame for having frizzy hair.
