While I was busy reading your input for the new webshop, I accidentally discovered that my book Going Natural How to Fall in Love with Nappy Hair was number one on Amazon.com, the largest bookstore in the world. Overjoyed as I was, I immediately took a screenshot and posted it on Facebook without really thinking about it. I was just happy and honestly didn't expect so many reactions.
The beauty of Social Media is that you can share such a spontaneous moment with friends, family, and even people you don't know, no matter where they are. And sometimes you're lucky enough that everyone is happy for you, congratulates you, and shares your message with other friends. That's what Guus Pengel did, an old friend who had already encouraged me to write my first book about Nappy Hair. He reacted as follows:
This was just the beginning of a series of heartwarming reactions. Besides almost 100 reactions to this post, it was also shared. After the press release with the headline Surinamese writer number 1 on Amazon.com was placed on gfcnieuws, all hell broke loose. My phone and computer went crazy. I couldn't keep up. The congratulations came from all sides, old friends, new friends, acquaintances, readers, and I must say, it was a party for a while. I'd love to share some reactions with you so you can enjoy them too.
