De Kroeshaar vraag van Lonneke

What products do you have for dry frizzy curls?

Mireille Liong

Hello, I think I have curly hair. I'm just doing it wrong at the moment, I know that myself but I don't know what works. I'll first tell you what I'm doing now and then what kind of result I would like.

Lonneke's Kroeshaar vraag

I have seen the products on the site but now I do not know what choice to make. Hopefully you can help me!

At the moment I first put olive oil in my hair before washing it, I let it soak in and then I wash it every other week with shampoo and every other week with conditioner. When I have washed it I put a mask in it (usually something like hair mayonnaise) and comb it out if that is in it, that works well. Then I rinse the mask out and leave a little conditioner in my hair. Then I put some cream on wet hair (I don't know which one is good for my hair) and usually blow-dry it or let it air dry. This is where it goes wrong, when it dries it is so dry and frizzy that I hardly have any curls left, I then repeat it to put cream in it so that it becomes a bit greasier but this does not give the result I want so then I use mousse and hairspray. That is a good solution for the short term but I think it will eventually dry out my hair.

I actually just want nice curls that aren't so dry and frizzy, and not that frizzy that I don't like. Furthermore I use a lot of hairspray because I'm insecure that it won't stay in place anymore.

Which shampoo and conditioner do you recommend for my hair?
And more importantly what should I put in it after washing so that I just get nice curls without that mousse and hairspray? (cream?)

Thanks a lot in advance!
Gr. Lonneke

Hi Lonneke,

Thanks for visiting kroeshaar.com, your question and the nice pictures. It looks like you have very nice curls and also the well-known problem of many curly heads: dry hair, frizzy curls.

From what I read, you use a lot of stuff for your hair. That's what many women with frizzy hair do. But more is not necessarily better. The most important thing is to find the right products that work for you.

In the case of frizzy and curly hair, this is usually a moisturizer that nourishes the curls from the inside out so that they come to life. Very different from greasy products that weigh the hair down or gels that leave residue.

The reason your hair feels dry is probably due to a build-up of product residue. It may sound strange because you wash your hair regularly, but you should think of limescale from the washing machine, for example. That is also a build-up and after a while you have to descale.

Going Natural clean start Combo Much the same thing happens with hair. You can't see it but many conditioners work by placing a layer over the hair strands. At first this makes the hair supple but after a while you notice that the hair feels dry.

This is because this layer becomes thicker and thicker until it no longer allows any products to enter.

To solve this problem I always recommend washing your hair with the Going Natural Herbal Shampoo followed by the Detox Conditioner . Both are effective and people are always raving about the Detox.

To keep your curls beautifully in shape afterwards, without the hair feeling dry, the Curly Twistout Hair Cream is recommended or the Herbal Styling Gel or both. It depends on whether your hair reacts better to water or to oil. The Curl Keeper is completely water-based while the Curly Twistout Hair Cream also contains nourishing oils.

I sincerely hope you try the products and am very curious about the results.
