Biography Dayenne Denneboom (pseudonym Mamyo fu mi afo)

Dayenne Denneboom, a young Afro-Surinamese woman born and raised in Suriname, has embraced writing prose and poetry with love since she was 14 years old. Her Dutch teacher at the Mulo school, Mrs. Loes (Gisela) Babel, pointed out to her mother that Dayenne is a very good writer and absolutely had to develop herself in this.

At the age of 17 she came to the Netherlands and in 2000, together with colleague Marilyn Henar, she founded the Surinamese ladies' kawina band 'Tranga Uma'.
In the band Tranga Uma she also wrote her own songs and kept her passion for writing. With songs like Katibo (Slavery) and Mama Sranan (mother Suriname) she tries to bring awareness.

In the meantime, Dayenne has united with Spoken word and brings prose and poetry together as brother and sister. With djembe and piano, accompanied by Art-Chi (Alten Rigters), she brings Spoken word to a level that attracts the attention of young and old.
Poems like 'fatherhood', 'srefidensi' and 'keti koti' cause confrontation. Prose pieces like 'ik wordgekomen in Nederland' and 'elk beestje geven een naampje' ensure that we are all shaken awake.

Dayenne believes it is important to be socially involved and, above all, to bring out the positive in life.
That is why the project 'Young people in control doing it safe!/Safe sex comedy' has been a wonderful addition to her ideals.
Within this project, which was founded by O-dog de Randamie and Aries Sporkslede from I love Comedy in collaboration with GGD and Get Entertained, Dayenne performed spoken word.
In 2007, Dayenne was also heard on Radio Mart Amsterdam in her own radio program called 'Wortu, poku nanga sabi'.
Dayenne has a warm heart for children and has worked as a homework supervisor for children between the ages of 6 and 12 within a project of Kansrijk Zuidoost. She has also read aloud within the project 'Voorlees express'; a project in which children with a language deficit are read aloud at home every week with the aim of stimulating the language development of the children.

After a period of rest and reflection, Dayenne is back and ready to keep viewers and listeners awake as a spoken word artist with disciplines such as music, theatre and dance with sincere words that calm, protest, amuse and intrigue the soul and mind.

Dayenne Denneboom has performed as a spoken word artist at, among others,
