The socially conscious computer scientist, graduated from the University of Amsterdam, started a digital revolution 10 years ago with her book and accompanying website going-natural.com. At that time, not only was the concept of a supporting website for a book new, it also concerned a subject that had hardly been discussed before the Social Media era; naturally frizzy hair.

Liong's book was published at a time when frizzy hairstyles were considered unacceptable, while Black women were looking for alternatives to defrizzing hair. Defrizzing products cause relaxer-induced alopecia, a form of hair loss that affects 73% of Black women*.

As a Social Entrepreneur who personally dealt with relaxer-induced alopecia, Liong has been advocating for healthier hair for Black women. She published Going Natural How to Fall in Love with Nappy Hair, to help women make the transition to natural, afro-textured hair.

Besides books and a much requested hair care line that will soon be available in Suriname, Liong also still uses her IT background to achieve her goal. With more than 80,000 members and fans, she is known as the Social Media Internet expert who launched America's Next Natural Model, an online election for models with curly hair that is entering its sixth season this year.

Going Natural, How to Fall in Love with Nappy Hair has become a household name in the world of Black hair and has therefore been chosen to be translated into French.

The French edition will be published in May during Boucles 'd Ebene in Paris, Europe's largest fair for Black entrepreneurs. Besides signing books, Liong will also give workshops. The book is available via amazon.com.
