The hair show
This year I was allowed to walk in the hair show of the African Festival again. Together with Nathalie and Michelle we represent hair salon Riqui. The theme was “Change” in the style of Barack Obama's campaign and his presidency.
This title was really not an exaggeration. Even as a frizzy hair veteran who is no longer easily surprised by unusual or great hairstyles, I was positively surprised by my own hairstyles! It really took me a while to recognize myself. If someone had told me years ago that I would walk around with such a frizzy hair hairstyle, I would have thought that person was crazy. Now I just walk around very happy with it as if it were the most normal thing in the world. If that is not a change, I don't know what is.
Riqui's style
I love stylists who can surprise you and Riqui never disappoints. While you are sitting in her chair she comes up with something special on the spot. Very often even spectacular. Her work continues to fascinate. She creates more than a hairstyle, she creates art. Just like a good painting that tells a story, Riqui's hairstyles are built up of layers. The longer you look, the more you discover. Actually just like a Dali but a hairstyle by Riqui almost never unfolds completely. Just look.

My hair was braided in cornrows on the left and right in different patterns while in the middle it was loose almost from front to back. The pattern on the left goes in a slight arc to the back.

The curly wavy pattern on the right side is braided to about halfway up the head and runs a little from the front and back.

With the loose part you can go in all directions. From afro punk loose to chic updos, bantus or a relaxed crest. I am still experimenting with this look. With frizzy hair you really never have to be bored.
