This is how you can easily untangle tangles in frizzy hair

Mireille Liong

When it comes to frizzy hair hair care, detangling is a chore that you can’t avoid. It’s perhaps the biggest hurdle we have to overcome when going back to frizzy hair. But with these tips, the right products, and a little practice, you’ll master the art of detangling.

Going Natural Ontknoop combo As annoying as tangles and knots are, if you choose to have frizzy hair, it is essential that you master the art of untangling. The reason is simple: If you do not know how to untangle your hair without damaging it, your hair will never grow long. Simply because incorrect untangling breaks the hair, preventing it from reaching its maximum length.

Time and patience
Always take your time when detangling your hair. Don’t start when you’re in a hurry. The curls will only suffer from impatient and hasty pulling; the knots will get tighter and you can be sure that you’ll damage your hair. This will only make you upset and that doesn’t contribute to happiness or beauty. This should be reason enough to take your time. If you have very thick locks or dense hair, take a break.

Moisture, moisture, moisture!
Dry hair breaks easily because hair strands that are dehydrated are usually static but above all inflexible. Therefore, before you start detangling, make sure that your hair is nicely smeared with the Silky Shea Hair Butter , sprayed with the No More Knots or both. With this combination you can never go wrong. The knots disappear like snow in the sun, but you have to sit down for it.

One part at a time
Forget the commercials where you see women combing their long, thick hair in one go; it doesn’t work that way. For anyone. It is what it is, commercials. In real life, people comb their hair in sections. So, unless you have freshly shaved naps that are an inch or less, don’t try to comb your entire head at once. Divide your hair into sections that are easy to manage. Make sections that you can hold in the palm of your hand.

Comb or brush
Use either a wide-toothed anti-static comb with rounded teeth or a flexible anti-static brush with rounded bristles to detangle your hair. It doesn't really matter which you choose. It's just a matter of personal preference. Some people prefer to use a comb, others prefer to use a brush.

Previously we recommended the Tangle Teezer, the Denman Brush D9 or the Goody Styling Therapy hair brush. All will do, the choice is yours.

The real deal
Hold a section of hair in one hand at the roots near the scalp while holding a comb or brush in the other hand. Dip your comb or brush in your favorite detangler and begin detangling at the ends, working your way up toward the scalp. Use gentle pulling motions. Stop if you get a tangle. Do not try to pull through a tangle. Remove the tangle by gently separating the strands of hair with your hands and then continue combing or brushing. Once the section you are working on is completely detangled, twist or braid it and continue with the rest of your hair.

Tip: Apply moisture to dry ends

If the ends of your hair are very dry, dip the teeth of the comb or brush in Silky Shea Hair Butter and pull it through the hair. In a short time, the brush will glide through your hair, and you will notice that the dryness has disappeared.
