Who puts banana in their hair?

Nowadays I use homemade home remedies for my hair. I experiment with all kinds of recipes that I read in books, magazines and on the internet. When I came across this recipe I was reminded of my first and last cosmetic experience with banana. The recipe is in the book Curly Girl and is as follows:

Banana Nowadays I use homemade products for my hair. I experiment with all kinds of recipes that I find in books, magazines and on the internet. When I saw this recipe I was reminded of my first and last cosmetic experience with banana. The recipe is in the book Curly Girl and is as follows:

3 very ripe bananas, 1 teaspoon almond oil and 1/2 cup carrot juice.

Mix all ingredients in a blender, add to clean wet hair, make sure the gunk is well distributed through the hair, let the mixture sit for half an hour and then rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water.

I once read a similar recipe in Viva. I actually didn't read it very well, what I did remember was that banana was good for your hair. Banana has a lot of proteins and proteins are good for your hair. It was at a time when I was still relaxing and it seemed nice and easy to try for a change.

Despite the fact that I love fruit, I never have bananas in the house. I don't like those Dutch imported bananas that much. Especially for export, they are harvested green and stored in the slotsetic.com country of arrival, under special conditions in a warehouse, so that they turn yellow within a few days. As a spoiled fruit lover, I taste that, that's why I don't like them and never buy them.

For this adventure I went to the Albert Cuyp market to get bananas. After I washed my hair, I was still using shampoo, I generously smeared the mashed banana in my hair. At first it felt wonderful. My scalp contracted, it was as if my scalp was being massaged in a natural way. Comparable to when you put on a mask. When the banana had been in my hair long enough I thought I would rinse it out. Oh that was a disaster, I couldn't get the banana out of my hair at all. The gunk and especially the seeds stuck to my hair strands like nits. After washing it three times it still hadn't come out. To make matters worse I called my good friend, who lived in Eindhoven at the time, for advice. Her comment was "Who puts banana in their hair?" That didn't really help either. I started to doubt myself if I was really that smart. There was nothing else to do but try to rinse the stuff out again. Finally, after rinsing my hair several more times, just when I thought I was just going to shave my head, my hair was banana-free.

Maybe it was because I only used banana without adding oil or anything else, or because I didn't use a blender and the slurry wasn't fine enough. I don't know what exactly caused it, but for now this is one of those recipes I won't be trying again anytime soon.
